"The statistics on how many people actually follow through and accomplish their New Year's resolutions are rather grim. Studies have shown that less than 25% of people actually stay committed to their resolutions after just 30 days, and only 8% accomplish them." or so says Forbes in this article.
So, how do we set ourselves up for success? Forbes says to turn them into Goals. And while there is merit in this, my own process is slightly deeper.
There is only one thing we need to succeed in our goals or resolutions. That is ACTION.
The way to know if you will succeed or not with your resolutions is to give yourself a testing ground on at least one of the key actions, now.
For example, if your resolution is to become more Healthy in 2020, set yourself an action of exercising daily, or eating healthy one meal a day. If you follow through on your plan for the next 7 days, to take the smallest of actions towards your intention you raise your ability to succeed significantly.
If you don't take the required actions, you have a choice to make. Either change the goal tom something you will take action towards, or change your thinking so you will take the actions to achieve success.
If your resolution/goal in 2020 is to bring in more clients, set yourself a test ground action of asking 10 people if you can add value to them, with a mini-course, a free pdf, something. It's not about what you offer, or if they accept, it's will you take the action of asking if you can add value.
If increasing your Wealth is your resolution for 2020 set a testing ground to set aside a certain amount of money (it could be $10 or $0.05c) each day for 7 days. With real cash. In a money box. Or if you can already save, then invest in something for the next 7 days.
Whatever your Resolution find the one key action that you aren't taking yet, a small baby-step, set it as your testing ground, for at least 7 days, and see if you are interested or committed to achieving what you say you want in 2020.
